About – Location of Goa

Located on the western coast of the Indian peninsular, Goa is the smallest Indian state. Encompassing a total area of 3,702 km², Goa is located in between the latitudes 15°48'00" North to 14°53'54" North and longitudes 74° 20'13" East to 73° 40'33" East. Popularly known as the Konkan region Goa is bounded by the state of Maharashtra in the north, and by Karnataka in the east and south, while the Arabian Sea forms its western coast. The Panaji the small quaint town in Goa popularly referred to as the transport and travel hub of the state is the capital of the state. Goa is geographically divided into North and South districts.


Having the benefit of being the fourth smallest state in terms of population, Goa is the richest state in India as far GDP goes. Goa accounts for a major part of the GDP contributed to the Indian economy. Honored as being the best placed state in the country by the Eleventh Finance Commission this state is one of the most important tourist’s destinations in the country.

Sheltering some of the busiest rivers in the Indian subcontinent Goa’s Mormugao harbor on the mouth of the river Zuari is one of the best natural harbors in South Asia. The major rivers flowing across this region include the Zuari, the Terekhol, Chapora River and the Sal.

About – Climate of Goa

Lying in the tropical zone and sharing close proximity to the Arabian Sea Goa witness’s hot and humid climate almost throughout the year. However one thing good about this state is that is does not face any temperature extremities. The hottest month of the year is generally May with maximum temperatures scaling upto 35 °C.

The monsoon in Goa arrives early in June and is one of the best seasons to witness the ecstatic beauty of Goa. With an annual rainfall of around 2,800 - 3,500 mm between the months of June and September Goa is one of the most agriculturally blessed lands in the country. After the monsoon showers Goa witnesses a short winter season that begins from December and ends by February.

However the ideal time to visit this mesmerizing state should be between mid July to late September or from the month of November to February. Since the climate is most pleasant during these months.
