The Treasures of India by Train offers sightseeing and excursions of some of the most beautiful cities in India. A 19 days tour package the Treasures of India by Train involves complete exploration of the rich heritage and culture that pervades North and South India.
Day 1- Arrive in Delhi
Arrive in the capital city and be escorted to the beautiful hotel. After a lip smacking breakfast you are driven to some of the most popular monuments of historical significance. A visit is arranged to the Red Fort, Jama Masjid, Raj Ghat, Qutab Minar, Humayun’s Tomb built in the Indo Persian style, India Gate – A War Memorial Arch and the Lakshmi Narayan temple. This would be a hectic day as it covers old and New Delhi both. While returning on your way back to the hotel you would be driven through the various shopping centers in Delhi, the Rashtrapati Bhawan and the Parliament.
Day 2- To Agra
The next day involves a picturesque drive to the historical city of Agra. A day meant for appreciating the bygone eras of the country. Explore the Taj Mahal, the Agra Fort, Itmad-Ud-Daulah and Sikandra- Akbar’s mausoleum. The different form of Indo Persian architecture is sure to take your breath away.
Day 3- To Fatehpur Sikri
The next morning transports you to the wonderful city of Fatehpur Sikri. The red sand stone city houses the important tomb of Sheikh Salim Chisthi. After a spending half a day in this sacred city you are taken back to Agra.
Day 4- Arrive in Varanasi
The next day takes you to the holy city of Varanasi. You will be taken to some of the most essential places of worship in this part of the country. Some of the famous temples and Mosques situated in this part of India include Kashi Vishwanath dedicated to Lord Shiva; Bharat Mata Mandir dedicated to Mother India; Durga Temple, dedicated to the Goddess Durga, Alamgir Mosque and the Sarnath.
Day 5- To Kolkata
You begin with a holy dip or ride in the beautiful Ganges bordering the southern Ghats of the city. Once you are done you are taken on a shopping spree to the vibrant markets and local Bazaars of Kolkata.
Day 6- In Kolkata
A day dedicated to the cultural capital of India. The day involves sightseeing to the various important tourists destinations in the city. Some of the famous attractions of Kolkata include Victoria Memorial, Indian Museum, Fort William, St.Paul’s Cathedral Birla Planetarium; Marble Palace, Jorasanko the residence of Rabindranath Tagore and a drive past various buildings like St John’s Church, St Andrew’s Belvedere, Hastings House and The Green Church
Day 7- In Kolkata
Day 7 is also dedicated to the beauty of Bengal. The morning involves a visit to the holy temple of Dakshineshwar. In the evening you are taken to one of the oldest gardens in the country that shelters a 210 year old banyan tree. After a visit to the Botanical Gardens you are taken to the railway station from where you are meant to board the over night train to Hyderabad.
Day 8- In Hyderabad
After arriving early in the morning in Hyderabad you are taken to visit the Salar Jung Museum, Char Minar, Mecca Masjid and the Sri Venkateshwara Temple. After paying homage to the various religious places you are transferred to the railway station to begin your journey for the next destination.
Day 9 & 10 - In Chennai
The next day welcomes you to the beautiful city of the Marina beach. A tour though the entire city takes you past the Fort St. George, the Senate House and the Palace of the Nawabs of the Carnatic, Little Mount Shrine, the San Thomse Cathedral, Kapaleeshwar Temple dedicated to Shiva and a visit to the National Art Gallery. The tenth day involves an exciting excursion to the marvels of Mahabalipuram & Kancheepuram the sacred cities of India.
Day 11- To Trivandrum
The flowing day takes you to the coastal city of Trivadrum. Located on the Malabar Coast this city offers a number of famous tourist’s spots. Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu, Anantha; Napier Museum and the Sri Chitra Art Gallery are some of the major sightseeing spots in this city.
Day 12- To Cape
The next day involves a visit to the southernmost tip of India. You are taken to watch the sunrise and sunset at the confluence of the Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal.
Day 13 & - In Cochin
The next day transfers you to the mysterious lands of Cochin. One of the most beautiful cities in the county Cochin boasts of a collection of tiny islands set in the backdrop of the enthralling Arabian Sea. A trip through the various mosques, temples and Churches of this visually captivating city simply takes your breath away. After a visit to the Dutch Palace, Koonan Kurishu Shrine, Jewish Synagogue, Fort Kochi, St Francis Church and Santa Cruz Basilica you will be taken to the railway station for your journey to Goa.
Day 15, 16 & 17 – In Goa
As you arrive in the beach capital of India you are transferred to one of the best beach resorts of the state. Your trip to Goa involves a visit to the following places: Calangute, Anjuna, Colva, Miramar and Vagator Beaches; the Churches, Temples and Museums of Old Goa, the colorful Mapusa Bazaar, Panjim city and the Mandovi and Dona Paula for panoramic views of the Arabian sea. The next day you are free to hang out in the beaches of Goa or try out the flea market.
Day 18 & 19 - To Mumbai
After a complete leisure retreat in Goa you are taken back to where you began the tour from. After freshening up you are escorted to The Gateway of India, Chowpatty Beach, Prince Of Wales Museum, Hanging Gardens, Marine Drive and the Crawford Market. This marks the end of your beautiful trip and you are then transferred to the International airport so that you can take you flight back home.
