North Goa

Considered as the beach capital of India, Goa can be divided into North Goa and South Goa. Covering an area of 1736 square kilo meter, North Goa is bordered by Maharastra on its one side, Arabian Sea and South Goa. The North Goa coastline begins from Fort Aguada and stretches till Arambol, thereby, making a 30 km extension of variety of beautiful beaches. Various cities that include Panaji, the capital of Goa, Vasco-da-Gama and Old Goa fall in the territory of North Goa. Different variety of beaches makes most of the topography of North Goa.


North Goa – Beaches
There are a number of popular beaches in North Goa which has made this part of the state a popular tourist destination. Some of the most well-known beaches of northern part of Goa include Anjuna Beach, Dona Paula Beach, Candolim Beach, Bambolim Beach, Baga Beach, Vagator Beach, Miramar Beach and Sinquerim Beach. The North Goa beaches are lively, enchanting and attractive. Most of the beaches come with ample of beach sports and activities, parties are held frequently at the beaches, carnivals and other many activities.

Anjuna Beach, the most visited beach of Goa is known for its flea market which is held on Wednesdays. Apart from these, the beach is also known for the parties, beach sports and shacks. Dona Paula Beach, which owes its name to the daughter of erstwhile Governor of Goa is favored mainly by the foreign travelers. Various adventure sports are common in this beach. Baga Beach which was founded by the Hippies is known for its parties. Candolim beach enjoys close proximity with the renowned Fort Aguada, it is ideal for having a leisurely time.

North Goa – Tourist Attractions
Apart from the different beaches, which are the crowd pullers of North Goa, there are various other landmarks as well. Churches, forts, monuments, temples, mosques, museums also form the major tourist attractions of North Goa. Terekhol Fort, Fort Aguada, Corjeum Fort, Chapora Fort, Reis Magos Fort are some of the important forts of North Goa. Some well known churches of this part of Goa are Reis Magos Church, Church of St. Ana, Church of Mae de Deus, and Church of Our Lady of the Rock of France, Church of Our Lady of Miracles, Church of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception and the like.

Among the temples, the important ones are Brahma Temple, Shree Dattatraya Temple, Shree Saptakoteshwar Temple, Shree Shantadurga Temple, Shree Hanuman Temple and many more.
