ANJUNA BEACH


If you are still recovering from Goa carnival hangover, then head for the Goa Anjuna beach. Goa Anjuna beach, a very popular beach in Goa, is usually crowded and gives a tourist the satisfaction of being in Goa.

Especially after the carnival in Goa, tourists might want to relax. They can do just that at Anjuna beach. Even after the Goa carnival, if your heart is still asking for more, then you can attend the night parties at Anjuna beach. Goa Anjuna beach is quite famous for its rave beach parties. The credit for the beach parties goes to the hippies.

It was in the late 1950s to mid-1960s that Anjuna beach was "discovered" by the hippies, and from then on began the trend of moonlit parties which is one occasion the tourists look forward to.

GOA ANJUNA FLEA MARKET

The flea market at Anjuna beach turns the entire beach into a vibrant market. The flea market at Goa Anjuna Beach offers a tourist just about anything he desires, right from swim suits to water-sports equipments to second hand bikes to cameras to various trinkets that can taken away as souvenirs to…just about anything. The Anjuna beach flea market, held on Wednesdays, offer you ample chances for bargaining and if you are good at it you can possess some good wares at reasonable rates.

HOW TO REACH GOA ANJUNA BEACH

The nearest airport is at Dabolim, which is 29 km away from Panaji and 47 km from Anjuna. The nearest railway station is at Karmali, 11 km away from Panaji and 29 km from Anjuna. There are buses every hour to Anjuna from Mapusa.

For tourists arriving from Mumbai, Mapusa is the jumping-off point for the northern beaches. Once in Goa, you can also hire bikes whose costs range from Rs 250 to Rs 400 per day. This way you can cover all the beaches as per your wishes and schedules.

WHERE TO STAY

There are plenty of guesthouses and even a couple of hotels around Anjuna village. There are also houses which a person can take on rent if he is planning to stay on the Goa Anjuna beach for a couple of months.
